SIMEST

The partner of Italian companies that internationalize

SIMEST is the company in the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group which since 1991 has supported the growth of Italian companies through the internationalisation of their activities. It is 76% controlled by SACE and is invested in by leading Italian banks and business associations.

Together with SACE, SIMEST represents the Export and Internationalisation Hub of the CDP Group, which brings together all the instruments to support Italian companies that wish to compete and grow internationally.

SIMEST, in particular:

Supports the company through their whole expansion cycle abroad, from the initial assessment of opening up to a new market, to expansion through direct investment. It operates through loans aimed at internationalisation, export credit support and capital investment.

A partner to the main global financial institutions, it operates with EU Funds and adheres to the EDFI (European Development Financial Institutions) network.

Governance

We work to support Italian companies in their internationalisation journey, while respecting the values of commitment and transparency.

The Board of Directors leads and directs the activities of SIMEST with the support of the corporate bodies, including the Board of Statutory Auditors, the Supervisory Body and the Director from the Court of Auditors.

The Management Team defines and implements the operational plans, leveraging the everyday work to implement projects and visions.

Board of Directors

Born in Rome in 1955, he is married with four children.

After graduating in Economics and Commerce at La Sapienza University in Rome, he studied international economics at Columbia University in New York and at the Institut de Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva, and he completed a Master in Business Administration at Columbia University.

In 1982 he joined the Bank of Italy where he worked in the Study Service department and from 1986 to 1988 he moved to the International Monetary Fund in Washington as Assistant to the Executive Director for Italy.

From 1988 to 2003 he returned to the Bank of Italy where he held various positions in Rome and Paris. From 2003 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti S.p.A. From 2007 to 2009 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of F2i S.g.r. and from 2009 to 2016 he was a member of the Italian Anti-trust Authority (AGCM).

Maurizio-Marchesini

Born in Rome in 1969.

She graduated in Economics and Commerce from LUISS University in Rome and has broad experience in the international business finance sector. She started her career in 1995 in Mediocredito Centrale, where she held managerial positions for 10 years in the Project Financing sector for international projects in Europe and in emerging markets. She has been in SACE since 2005, and took on increasingly senior roles until becoming first Chief Business Officer and then Chief Marketing & Underwriting Officer.

She is a director of SACE FCT.

Simonetta Acri has been in SACE since 2003, where she has held various key positions, contributing to the development of new operational areas and giving a significant boost to the commercial network. Previously she worked at Regional Head Structured Trade & Export Finance for the Corporates & Investment Bank Division of Deutsche Bank, in charge of the Italian market and South Eastern Europe, and was head of the Trade Finance unit at Morgan Grenfell. She now holds the role of Chief Sales Officer.

Antonella Baldino is Chief Business Officer of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, member of the Board of Directors of SACE, SIMEST, Istituto per il Credito Sportivo and FINTECNA, and Deputy Chairwoman of Eltia (European Long-Term Investors Association). With a degree in economics and commerce and a Master degree in international economics, she has gained broad experience in the structuring and management of financial instruments and extraordinary operations both at the Ministries of Economic Development and of the Economy and Finance, where she was a member of the Board of experts in the Treasury Department, and at leading banks such as Unicredit, Capitalia and Mediocredito Centrale. Previously she gained experience abroad at the World Bank and UNCTAD.
